The body has a number of Body Regulation Systems which on this website I refer to collectively as BregS. The function of the BregS is to maintain the body in equilibrium (homeostasis). To be in "equilibrium" means that the body is able to function (remain alive) at any one time with the environmental conditions  that the body is in. At any one time the body "environmental conditions"  relate to current factors such as: The food it has eaten; The medication it has taken; The injuries it has suffered; The health status of its organs; The temperature in its physical environment; The pathogens that have entered it;  And any other significant factors that characterize body "environmental conditions".  The body has an intrinsic "wisdom" programmed for survival. Because of this wisdom, in any environmental condition that body finds itself in, the body "twists and turns" to achieve an equilibrium that keeps it alive, even when it is poisoned! Of course there is a limit to the "twists and turns" that the body can manage successfully and remain alive. In the case of poisons, there are for each poison doses which if exceeded will kill.  Hence Paracelsus dictum "The dose makes the poison" which is widely exploited by modern medicine. In fact, all prescription drugs are poisons, and one is able to survive them only if they stick to the recommended doses.

Do our medical professionals fully understands our BregS? No, as it is too complex to understand fully. And in fact this lack of understanding led to the practice of surgically removing Spleens and Tonsils because doctors believed that these organs are not needed.

And as recently as this June 2024, I was operated to remove my appendix because of appendicitis. To console me, my surgeon said " And don't worry! The appendix is a useless organ". How do you tell your surgeons that the Appendix is an important immune system organ and that he should have tried to save it?
