"My dear Kepler, what do you say of the leading philosophers here to whom I have offered a thousand times of my own accord to show my studies, but who, with the lazy obstinacy of a serpent who has eaten his fill, have never consented to look at the planets, or moon, or telescope? Verily, just as serpents close their eyes, so do men close their eyes to the light of truth."
                                                                                  Galileo Galilei in a letter
                                                                                  to Johannes Kepler ca. 1630

Vitamins & Minerals

Management of cancer and other diseases using good nutrition and supplementation with vitamins and minerals, particularly with vitamin C, has been advanced by several researchers starting in the 1940s. Notably among these reasearchers, has been Linus Pauling, 1954 Chemistry Nobel prize and 1962 Peace Nobel prize . He wrote several books and articles on the use vitamin supplementation, with particular focus on vitamin C supplementation, to achieve optimal health and well being, to avoid colds, to speed up and improve wound healing, and to manage cancer. In his book "Cancer and Vitamin C" (1), Pauling discusses with his usual thoroughness the nature of Cancer and the treatment options available, including the use of vitamin C. He had prostate cancer and kept it at bay for more than 20 years. His vitamin regimen included 18 grams of Vitamin C everyday. He was 93 years old when he died in 1994.

Throughout my life, I have personally experienced very good results using food and vitamins to help me with the health issues I was confronted with. In contrast to this, I have had serious consequences every time I resorted to my doctors, such as ending up with heart bypass surgery for being prescribed an Alpha-Blocker (13) for some seven years to manage my prostate BPH. I have a lot of respect for our doctors, especially surgeons, and those that keep us alive in emergencies. I have concluded that the drugs of modern medicine are amazingly effective in keeping us alive in emergencies, but the damage that they inflict to our bodies when prescribed for daily use can have very serious consequences.

All vitamins have helped me with health issues over time. Vitamin C , in particular, has been "miraculous" for me in preventing colds or any other respiratory infection, in speeding up healing of the many cuts I have suffered in the course of my many home costruction projects, and to deal with allergic reactions caused by enviromental factors or prescription drugs. As an example, in December 2019 I increased my daily Vitamin C intake from 1000 mg to 2000 mg because I was concerned about Covid-19 and I was concerned about being vaccinated  mostly because of prior bad experiences with vaccines. As a result, the daily dose of 2000 mg of Vitamin C has protected me from Covid_19 and any other respiratory infection ever since!

I discuss further my experiences with Vitamins in the "Health and Nutrition" page.  It is these experiences that have convinced me that to stay healthy, and hopefully slow down my Leukemia, I need to supplement my diet with a comprehensive set of Vitamins in rather large doses. In particular I am convinced, based among other things on the miraculous results I had already experience with vitamin C,  that I need to overdose especially  with Vitamin C.  The vitamins and minerals that I have been taking since March 9, 2023 are tabulated in Tables V1 to V4 below.

How do I tell if the vitamin amounts that I am taking are too much? This is a very good question because we are all different and what is fine for one person, may not be fine for another. Although vitamins are not toxic, beyond some amounts one may experience some disagreable effects such as some abdominal discomforts. Personally, I have never experienced any discomfort whatsoever since I have started my supplementation.

Vitamins are non toxic as attested by the fact that there is no record of anybody ever dying  of a vitamin overdose. Contrast this with Aspirin which everybody takes without batting an eye. This supposedly safe drug is responsible for many deaths every year due to overdoses, and is one of the over the counter drugs of choice for teenagers committing suicide (21). And even the low 81 mg daily dose has been linked to several Stroke and Intracerebral Bleeding in Healthy Older People (22) to the point that their use is no longer being recommended for everybody.

Personally, I rely on the feedback that nature has endowed our bodies to tell us whether we are feeling well or not after we ingest some food such as vitamins. Because I have, thanks to my parents, always paid attention to this feedback, for me recognizing that some food is bothering me is "second nature". So, I just listen to my body and adjust the vitamin amounts accordingly. However, persons that are eating unhealthy food all the time, will have a very hard time to determine the foods that are bothering them because they are unwell all the time. So, these persons have first to relearn to recognize the foods that are bothering them and eliminate them from their diets. Once this step has been completed, they will experience a level of well-being that they have never experienced before. From this point on, they will able to "listen" and hear what their bodies are telling them when they introduce new food items in their diet.

Note that, although it is well understood that all people are different from each other (4,5), there are no tests available yet to determine how different they are from some average person. It looks like that our medical researchers have forgot the importance of people biological diversity. So, "listening to the body"  is the only way to determine if any food is good for us or not.

So, that is what I do to determine if my vitamins dosages, or any other foods,  are good for me or not. I just listen to my body and adjust the amounts accordingly. The supplements that I have been taking since March 9, 2023 are tabulated in Tables V1 to V3 below.

At almost 84 now, I feel almost as if I was getting younger:  I wake up automatically after about 7.5 hours of sleep regardless of when I go to bed; I get out of bed with my feet "already running" before they touch the floor anxious to get to my job and to my many ongoing projects involving computer programming, research of several physics, chemistry, and biology topics, and writing this website; I have a vigorous one-hour workout every day; I cook my own food; And, last but not least, I shop for groceries as needed, and clean my home as needed. Thanks to God, so far my supplentation coupled with my diet and exercise is working very well!
