Preamble
On April 19, 2022, at the already ripe age of 82, the results from a routine blood test showed that I had Leukemia. The formal name for my condition is Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).
My doctor called to give me the results of my blood test and ended up saying "It is not a death sentence yet ... ". After I recovered from my initial shock, I made an appointment with my doctor to discuss my options. My doctor urged me to see an oncologist to start treatments without delay.
My sister had died of Cancer years before, the brother of my son in-law had just died of Cancer, and his father, who at the time was been treated for Leukemia, was not doing well. And so I was not that impressed with oncologists and their poisonous chemotherapies. My roots growing up in a poor peasant community south of Rome (Ciociaria) had instilled in me this very strong conviction that a sick body has to be nurtured ... not poisoned. This conviction, plus the resentment that I felt because the doctor had tried to make me panic with the statement "It is not a death sentence yet ... ", plus the fate that had befallen my sister and my acquaintances with cancer, made me decide to take a "wait and see" approach.
Soon after, I started reading papers, drugs clinical trial reports, and books, to gain a better understanding of what cancer is, why it occurs, and how it is treated. Initially my reading was confined maily to Cancer. But soon it expanded to other health related areas such as nutrition, vitamins, and the stories of the many people that successfully confronted their diseases with nutrition. All this reading, viewed through the lens of my roots and my life experiences, convinced me the best approach for me was to confront my Leukemia with a regimen (See page "My Regimen") of good food, vitamin supplementation, and daily exercise.
The success that I have achieved with my regimen to-date have exceeded my wildest expectations. Since the start of my regimen on March 2023, I have been enjoying an elated sense of well being, full of energy and motivation for physical and intellectual activities. At the same time my blood counts have remained essentially the same, and I have got rid of a number of ailments for which my doctor had no remedy for.
The amazing good health that I am enjoying as a result of my regimen, led me to think that may be the insights that I have gained on my "journey" so far may be useful to share with others. The pages that I have dedicated to this purpose are listed below. The pages listed without an Hyperlink are not completed yet. The "Human Instincts" page is listed first because we need to be reminded of what drives Humans as this is essential to understand how to navigate the human jungle out there that we need to enter everyday to make a living, or secure a service.
