"Modern Medicine is a racket. Full disclosure - I was part of that racket through my forty years of practice ..." (37)
Robert H. Lustig, MD & MSL (1957 - )
" The medical "business" is virtually owned by the pharmaceutical interests ... Nearly all prescription drugs, with the exception of some hormones, are not only substances not found in the human body - they are foreign to life! ... these patented drugs enable pharmaceutical companies to garner truly obscene profits ... that allow them to buy and spread influence in virtually every area of our society." Preamble
Throughout history, within any organized society, from the most primitive to the most advanced, people survival instinct for good health have made people seek help to deal with ailments that befell them. This resulted in the emergence of individuals (within the more primitive societies) or groups of individuals forming institutions (within the more advanced societies) that set themselves up as knowledgeable providers of health services. Why did these individuals and institutions emerge? Fundamentally because of the Need Imperative. For everybody making a living is a must, and one can make a good living treating people's ailments!
This instinct for good health has spawned a massive health care complex of industries with spending today in the order of several trillions of dollars and growing. Access to health care has been cultivated by vested interest groups to become considered a sacrosanct right of all people which politician exploit to get elected. This has resulted in an ever increasing set of government sponsored health services available to people for "free". This has removed cost as a barrier for going to the doctor frequently even for minor ailments. And as these "free" doctor services are paid with tax dollars, this adds a significant cost burden on the public purse, and our taxes keep going up!
Collectively we spent huge amounts of money on health care! in North America, we boast the most advanced health treatments and drugs that the world has ever seen! And indeed, "miraculous" procedures are performed everyday to keep people alive in emergencies, and miraculous surgeries are performed daily such as to repair hearts, remove cancer lumps, repair knees and hips, implant new organs, and correct features that offend people's vanities. And numerous powerful drugs are available and new ones are continually being developed to treat a vast array of conditions. We have so many drugs that it would take much too much space to describe them all. Just to mention some, we have drugs to lower our blood pressure, drugs to lower our cholesterol, drugs to help women get pregnant, drugs to prevent women from getting pregnant, drugs to help us sleep, drugs to help us wake up, drugs to loose weight, drugs to gain weight, drugs to sharpen our minds, drugs to treat cancers, drugs to treat anxiety, vaccines to prevent some cancers, some vaccines prevent colds and flues. And we have an incessant array of adds campaigns and direct-to-physician promotions to have people use these drugs. And nowadays we do have most people taking several of these drugs (pills) every day to the extent that pharmacies are offering the service of organizing pills in neat packages to help people take the right pills at the right time, and people are being asked by their doctors to to bring with them a list of the pills that they are taking.
And despite all these miraculous pills and all the miraculous surgical procedures, our Western Diseases such as Cancer, Dementia, Diabetes, and Obesity, just to name a few, have reached epidemic proportions and the Healthspan expectancies in North America have been declining significantly over recent years (70). It looks like that something is amiss!
My layman understanding of what I think is amiss with the disappointing performance of Modern Medicine in stemming the prevalence of our "Western Diseases" is discussed below.
I am providing the following discussion because of my positive experience with my use of nutrition to manage my Leukemia (CLL). Since I embarked on my regimen (My Regimen) I have been "brimming" with energy and with a wonderful sense of well being . I have also experienced the healing of a number of health issues for which, according to my doctors, no remedy were possible (see page "Body Changes"). And all this, while at the same time my CLL has remained essentially stable. This amazing experience that I am enjoying with my regimen, has motivated me to create this web side to share my experiences with others as I reasoned that if my regimen is helping me, a similar regimen might also help others.
As shown on the "My Regimen" page, my regimen excludes all drugs, prescription or otherwise, except in the case of emergencies such as heart attacks. I excluded all drugs from my daily regimen because of my understanding that these drugs, although "God given" life savers in emergencies, become poisonous (injure health) if taken daily.
Within the context of this website, I use the word "poison" to mean a drug that disables one or more of the functions of our Body Regulation Systems (BodyRegS) and kills if the dose is sufficiently high. For example, a blood pressure drugs disables the BodyRegS ability to control blood pressure to the value that the body "wisdom" judges to be needed at any one time. If the patient takes the doctor's recommended drug dose, the blood pressure is lowered to the level that the doctor judges to be healthier. But if the patient overdoses, the blood pressure lowers to an unhealthy level and, if the overdose is sufficiently high, the blood pressure will collapse and lead to death unless it can be quickly corrected.
In passing, i would like to note that the "modus operandi" of all poisons is the disabling of one or more functions of our BodyRegS. For example, we all know that Mercury is a poison. What not everybody may know is that Mercury is a poison because, just as prescription drugs, it disable key enzymes involved in the cellular stress response, protein repair, and oxidative damage prevention.
My source of information on various drugs has been the manufactures websites and other websites that discuss drugs and poisons, as well as medical articles and books. This is a complex field. But I have been careful and I consider that the information that I am providing is valid.
I must emphasize, however, that the readers have to be cautioned because I am not a medical professional. All my qualifications on health matters derive from having been a "student of nutrition and medicine" all my life ... almost 85 years now, and for putting my life on the line to prove that all that the body needs to stay healthy is good nourishment. So, the readers must take note that if they decide to use any of the information that I have provided on this website for any purpose, they will be using it at their own risk. I recommend that anybody considering to use the information on this website, should do so in consultation and under the supervision of a medical doctor.
The following discussion is organized under the following headings:
- Classification of Diseases.
- Diseases Escaping Successful Treatment.
- What Is Promoting Physiological Diseases?
- Are Prescription Drugs Poisons?
- How Do We Stay Healthy Without Drugs?
Classification of Diseases
For the purpose of focusing on which diseases Modern Medicine is failing to treat successfully, it is useful to look at the diseases that people befall to and see which types are escaping successful treatment. For the purpose of clarity in this discussion, the various diseases are divided into three main groups: Mechanical diseases, Physiological diseases, and Parasitic diseases. Nature is very complex and in general it makes this grouping in three neat boxes not always neat. However, this grouping helps to clarify the focus of this discussion. These groups of diseases are briefly described below.
Mechanical diseases
These are diseases due to mechanical malfunctions such as, to name a few, broken legs, worn out hip joints, blocked arteries in the heart, tumour masses pressing on organs, kidney stone causing pain and impeding urine flow, prostate enlargement impeding urine flow, and gallbladder stones impeding bile flow. Mechanical diseases are treated using mechanical procedures such as surgery, radiation, physiotherapy, and exercise.
Physiological diseases
These are due to malfunction of some of the trillions of biological reactions going on continually in our body, all coordinated with exquisite precision in a "one for all, all for one" spirit. Malfunction of some of these reactions results in several diseases such as cancer, heart disease, psoriasis, gallbladder stones, kidney stones, obesity, dementia and so on. Physiological diseases are treated by introducing into the body drugs (orally, intravenously, or subcutaneously), or by feeding the body orally or intravenously different combinations of foods and supplements. These diseases are often referred to as Western Diseases, or Modern Diseases.
Parasitic diseases
These diseases are due to parasites, such as worms, bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Parasites cause several ailments such as Tapeworms, Leprosy, Candida, Toe-nail fungus, Respiratory infections, Giardia, and so on. Parasitic diseases are treated by introducing into the body substances (orally, intravenously, or cutaneously) that kill, or help the body kill, the parasites.
Diseases Escaping Successful Treatment
We have truly amazingly skilled doctors, surgeons, medical technologies, and drugs! These combine for many very successful procedures to keep people alive in emergencies and effectively help people with Mechanical and Parasitic diseases. Many, including myself, thank these skilled doctors, surgeons, and drugs that has kept us alive in emergencies due to diseases or accidents. We even have drugs for a successful cure of the dreaded Leprosy!
Yet, people have never been more sick than ever before with Physiological diseases such as cancer, heart disease, psoriasis, obesity, dementia, and so on. These diseases are being referred to as Western Diseases. The prevalence of these diseases are responsible for the decline of lifespan and healthspan expectancies over recent years.
The last eighty years or so have seen the "infiltration" into the general populace of the Western Diseases priorly affecting only the "rich" (See page "Diseases of the Rich"). This decline in overall health started in the 1950s and generally coincides with the start of increased amounts of Sugar usage, the start of well organized advertising and promotional campaigns to promote patentable drugs (such as Cholesterol lowering drugs, birth control drugs, and blood pressure drugs), and the demonizing of eggs, meats, saturated fats, and vitamins ... all done with the backing of studies of doubtful validity (such as the Ancel Keys "Seven Country Study") to convince the public to believe in the "scientific sanctity" of sugar, patentable drugs, and unsaturated fats. This decline in overall health is manifesting in the prevalence of the Western Diseases such as, just to name a few, cancer, diabetes, dementia, heart disease, obesity, mental health, and in the increases of children born with challenges. In turn, this is resulting in the shortage of hospitals, doctors, nurses, facilities and teachers for challenged children, and long term care homes. And, last but not the least, this general health decline is resulting in large increases in health costs ... ultimately all covered by the taxpayers.
What's up? Without question, never before our medical scientists and doctors have been better equipped with medical knowledge, medical drugs, and medical instrumentation and equipment. But how come all the this amazing knowledge, technology, and drugs so clearly displayed in the many miraculous surgeries and procedures that save lives in emergencies, and fix people "mechanically" and "parasitically", do not translate into treatments that allow people to be able to enjoy "physiological" radiant good health every day?
What Is Promoting Physiological Diseases?
In the "Root of All Diseases" page, I have discussed that Physiological diseases are not different diseases. Rather, they are different symptoms of one root-cause diseases that I called "MaleDiet". One of the factors that promotes MaleDiet is ingestion of non-nutritional substances such as prescription drugs. The other factors, such as sugar consumption, are inot discussed further here.
Over my eighty-five years on this planet my trust in my doctor's prescription drugs for daily use has evolved from "complete blind trust" to "complete blind distrust". As I have said above, it is evident that these drugs are "God given" to preserve life in emergencies, namely, when taken for a relatively short period of time. However, I consider that these drugs, such as blood pressure lowering drugs and cholesterol lowering drugs, become very dangerous to our health if taken daily "as a way of life".
I have experienced myself that prescription drugs are " very dangerous to our health" with some drugs. For example, in my early sixties my urologist prescribed an alpha-blocker to help me manage my prostate BPH. Seven years later I had a heart attack that landed me in the hospital for quadruple bypass surgery. Everybody was surprised, especially myself, because I was the very image of fitness: not extra fat on my body, and at the time running a minimum of three miles on most days, working out every night, and eating like a "saint".
Clearly I did not belong in the box of people that get heart attacks. So I started researching what might have been responsible for my heart attack. My search landed me on a website on which some patient group was collecting data on heart attacks suffered by people taking the same alpha-blocker that I had been taking. The data was frightening! It showed that 89 % of the people over sixty that took this alpha-blocker for more than five years, ended up with a heart attack. Funny enough, about a year after my surgery this website disappeared. From then on, if I mentioned this data to anybody, they looked at me "funny" as if I was making it up. But recently I was vindicated! A recent paper published in 2021 (14) has confirmed my suspicion. The study reported in this paper confirms that alpha-blocker cause heart attacks and recommends to urologists to refer BPH patients to surgery rather than to alpha-blockers.
Based on my experience, based on the many articles on the "modus operandi" of various drugs, and based on just "horse sense" intuition that non-nutritional substances that disable body control functions cannot be helpful to our body, I have come to the conclusion that daily use of prescription drugs and other drugs, is one of the main factors that are promoting our Western Diseases.
Why is daily use of prescription drugs dangerous to our health if taken for too long?
The simple answer is because, with the exception of hormones, these drugs are all poisons as discussed further below. The only reason that they don't kill right away is that the dose is not high enough. But even if the dosage does not kill right away, it will cause cumulative damage to the body over time, and give rise to a number of "side effects" diseases. And in fact all drugs have side effect diseases that often appear worse than the symptom that they are intended to treat. All prescription drugs act by disabling one or more of the functions of our Body Regulation System (BodyRegs), and it is this "disabling" that makes them poisonous. And in fact the "modus operandi" of all poisons is to disable one or more of the control functions of our BodyRegs.
As an example, let's briefly look at blood pressure drugs. These drugs target to disable some of the BodyRegs function that control blood pressure. The functions targeted are those that make sure that the blood pressure is high enough to carry to our cells the nourishment needed for the different activities that we engage in. For example if we are setting down our BodyRegs controls blood pressure to a lower value and controls to increasingly higher values as we get up, walk, or run. The BodyRegs has many mechanisms to control blood pressure to values needed for homeostasis. One of these mechanism is the "Cell Calcium Channels" in the endothelial cells. These are the cells that form the lining of blood vessels, lymph vessels, the heart, and a number of other organs such as the lungs. The amount of calcium allowed into these cells via these channels impacts blood pressure. More calcium translates to higher blood pressure and vice versa. One class of blood pressure drugs are called "Calcium Channels blockers". So these drugs disable, to a certain extent depending on dosage, the ability of the BodyRegs to control blood pressure via the amount of calcium that it allows into endothelial cells. Needless to say, these drugs have several serious side effects.
The fundamental question that a doctor should ask when dealing with a person with a blood pressure that he considers too high is "What is the root cause that makes the BodyRegs control to a higher blood pressure?". And when the doctor understands the "root cause" they should then address it, rather than jumping to the conclusion that the BodyRegs is "stupid" and prescribe a blood pressure lowering drug.
The above reasoning has led me to conclude that Big Pharma is making a fundamental scientific error on how to treat physiological diseases. The error is to focus on the promotion and development of drugs that treat disease symptoms rather than treating diseases root causes ... and to do the treatment with poisons. I have arrived at this conclusion based on my personal experience with prescription drugs, with my regimen, and my logical "rumination" on the several books and articles that I have been reading (see page "Books and Articles").
What is the difference between treating disease symptoms versus treating disease root causes? The following analogy is useful to bring home the meaning of this difference.
Broken Water Main Analogy
Cities have several underground watermains. Consider a situation where one such water main breaks causing a lot of water flooding the street above. In this case, the symptom of the problem is "water flooding the street"; The root cause of the problem is the "broken watermain".
1. Treating the Symptom Approach
This approach would have the City address the symptom of the problem, namely, the "water flooding the street". Accordingly, the City would mobilize their maintenance crews to set up pumps on the street to keep pumping the water away, day in and day out, to maintain the street passable. In the mean time, the water escaping from the broken watermain below starts causing more problems such as water seeping into people's basements, underground soil erosion, and sink holes. It is obvious that this approach will never solve (cure) the problem. It will keep the street passable, but it will allow the water escaping from the broken watermain to keep flooding the street above and cause more problems underground. Clearly, dealing with all of these problems adds significant costs to the city road maintenance budget and adds significant inconveniences to the people living in the area. And , of course, all costs and inconveniences are borne by the taxpayers and may increase with time but never go away. Also notable is that this approach is a very effective "job creation program". Jobs such as for the people manning the pumps, for pump repair technicians, for tank trucks drivers to carry the water away, for truck mechanics, for pump manufacturing industries, and for public relation staff to explain and justify what is being done to the tax paying public. And, we should not forget, this approach also creates more work, and thus more costs, to deal with the additional damage done by the water that keeps escaping underground. In sum, this approach results in a meagre benefit, significant ongoing cost increases, the creation of several jobs in related industries, and never "cures" the problem.
2. Treating the Root Cause Approach
This approach would have the City address the root cause of the problem, namely, the "broken watermain". Accordingly, the City would mobilize their maintenance crews to repair the broken watermain. In this case the costs increase to the road maintenance budget are limited to the cost of the repairs, the people inconveniences are limited to the duration of the repairs, and the "job creation program" for related industries lasts only for the duration of the repairs. As soon as the repairs are completed, everything gets back to normal. In sum, this approach results in cost increases limited to the cost of the repair, creation of jobs only for the duration of the repairs, inconveniences only for the duration of the repair, and totally "cures" the problem.
Are Prescription Drugs Poisons?
Use of poisons by doctors to treat diseases has a long history, and was formalized by Paracelsus (1493-1541) who is considered the father of Toxicology. For example, he was one the earliest proponents of using Mercury to treat Syphilis. Little surprise that those treated with mercury, died terrible deaths not unlike people today dying from cancer after chemotherapy treatments. My sister was one of these people. The terrible side effects of mercury treatment for Syphilis are well documented in the 1519 book "De Morbo Gallico" by Ulrich Von Hutten.
Paracelsus' famous dictum "dosis sola facit venenum" ("only the dose makes the poison"), still guides the development of prescription drugs today. Why? I think it is because daily treatment of diseases using poisons is making obscenely large profits for Big Pharma and , for as long as it will make money, this practice will be continued because there will be money to keep up the advertising campaigns to convince people that they can achieve good health only with prescription drugs, there will be money for direct to physician promotions of drugs, and there will be money to buy influence in every corner of our society.
One of the most important lesson that I have learned from life is that what is promoted is not what is right but rather is what makes money. Even in my engineering profession!
Poison based prescription drugs all act so that they ameliorate the symptoms targeted, while at the same time, they cause several other health issues which are referred to as "side effects". For example BTK Inhibitors, one of the class of drugs recommended for the treatment of CLL (my type of leukemia), do lower the white blood cell count ... but not as desired because these drugs kill cancerous and non-cancerous cells alike. At the same time, these cause much suffering due to their several side effects that include other serious cancers and death. When my oncologist suggested these drugs to treat my leukemia I told myself "I must be nuts to take this drug!".
Why many people that are diagnosed with cancer agree to take chemotherapeutic drugs to treat it? I think it is because of the billions that Big Pharma spends in direct-to-consumers advertising of these drugs, because of the billions that Big Pharma spends in propaganda campaigns parading "cancer heroes", and because of the billions that Big Pharma spends in direct-to-doctors promotions of their drugs.
When a doctor announces a cancer diagnosis to a patient, they are brutal! My doctor told me "it is not a death sentence yet ... I have arranged an appointment with an oncologist to take care of you ...". Why the scary bluntness? I believe that doctors want to scare us. Once we are scared, they can do anything that the want with us. We must be strong an dare to think for ourselves! We have known that one day we are going to die since we were born.
Am I saying that we should not take advantage of modern medical technology and knowledge? Of course not! But we need to take advantage of it on our own terms. We must remember that what we have to be scared of is not of dying but of suffering needlessly. So we must avoid treatments that make us suffer on earth as if we were in hell! My conviction is that if surgery can be used to remove cancer lumps, or if procedures such as blood transfusions and apheresis can be used to remove cancerous blood cells, then I would say yes to these treatments if needed and if the risks are acceptable. However, in all cases we must refuse chemotherapeutic drugs and radiation: accepting these treatments is in effect accepting a death sentence to die in terrible agony. I'll never forget how my sister died!
And in all case, the first thing that wee need to do when diagnosed with cancer, or any other disease, is to put in good order our total diet and our lifestyle. It is the only way to get back on our feet and resume enjoying life!
How Do We Stay Healthy without Prescription Drugs?
The short answer is by eating and living the way that mother nature intended. This is self evident from my experiences so far as I recount below.
Looking back at my growing up days in the early 1940s, I remember clearly that there was a very marked class distinction, namely, the "Rich", the "artisans", and the "peasants".
The "Rich" were people that did not have to work to make a living and they lived where they pleased at their several properties . They enjoyed a decadent lifestyle characterized by unrestricted amounts of food especially sugar, fried food, processed food, lots of condiments and spices, alcohol, tobacco, access to the latest recreational drugs such as cocaine, unrestricted access to doctors and to whatever they had to offer, and a total absence of physical work.
The "Artisans" were people that made a living with a trade (such as barbers, taylors, shoemakers, photographers) or selling things (such as meat, groceries, clothes, or books). Artisan lived in the small villages where they had access to more customers. Artisan had to buy anything that they ate. Artisan did little or no physical work except for those in the construction trades. There were no machines to help the workers in those days!
The "Peasants" were the people that lived on the land and off the land. Everything that they ate came from the land that they worked. Wheat, corn, eggs, meat, and vegetable. All from the land. If they did not grow it, they did not eat it. The luckier ones lived on their own land, and many lived on land that rich people owned and which they worked for a share of the crops. Peasants worked in their fields or tending the animals, from sun-up to sun-down doing back breaking work pretty well every day.
One of the things that jumps at me when I think of my growing up days, is that the modern diseases (such as Heart disease, Diabetes, Obesity, Gout, Hypertension, and Cancer) were common among the Rich, almost absent among the Artisans, and totally absent among the peasants. So much so that we would call these diseases the "diseases of the rich".
I have come to conclude that the reason why the "Rich" were more sickly than the peasant was due to their diets and life style. I still can hear my mother saying "The rich are always sick because they eat too much sugar and too much white bread and pasta; and they are always sitting down!". Comparing some details of these two diets, the following jump out as the main differences:
(1) Consumption of sugar. The "rich" ate a lot of sugary food every day. The "Peasants" rarely, if ever, ate sugary food. My mother would make a cake only once a year for Easter!
(2) Amount of food. The "Rich" had all the food that they wanted. All prepared by others and sourced from others. The Peasants had barely enough food, all coming from their fields and their own animals. Notably, the animals were grown as nature intented, there were no pesticides no herbicides, and no genetic modification. And all fertilizer was from nature sources such as manure and "Nitrato" (birds poop imported from Chile).
(3) Quality of the food. The food of the "Rich" had a lot of sugar, was refined, richer in condiments, and had a lot of processed meats such as prosciutto, salami, sausages, and mortadella. Also, their food preparation was more elaborate and prepared by their servants.
(4) Amount of vegetables, fruit, and unrefined food. The "Rich" looked down on vegetables and unrefined food and could afford fruit all year round. The "Peasants" diet relied heavily on vegetables and unrefined food, and both fruit and vegetable were always limited to in season availability. We know today that the vitamins are mostly in the vegetables and unrefined food, and that the body does not handle well too much sugar. We also know that plant food contains toxins and limiting consumption to only in season avaialbility gave the body a chance to recover from certain toxins before the were re-introduced months later. Therefore the "Rich" were not getting much vitamins and were consuming unhealthy amounts of sugar, and were subject to toxins in fruit all year around.
(5) Physical work. The "Rich" never did any physical work as they had servants to do the work for them. The "Peasants" worked in their field from sun-up to sun-down pretty well every day doing back breaking work. There were no tractors back then!
(6) Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drugs. The "Rich" indulged in these without constrains. Even cocaine and morphine had entered the stage in my area in the mid 1940s. The "peasants" also were lured by these drugs. But fortunately could not afford them. Wine from our vineyards was a staple on the dinner table, but getting drunk was strongly stigmatized. My father insisted in no more than one small glass of wine with dinner.
(7) Access to doctors and their medications. The rich had full access to doctors and their latest and best medications because they were able to afford it. The "Peasants" could not afford doctors or their medications and I remember many declaring proudly that they never shad seen a doctor in their life! Diet modifications was relied on to remedy some of the ailment that befell them. My grandmother, who died while working in her fields at 102, was one of those that proudly pronounced "I have never seen a doctor in my life".
How did the above two diets do? The results, as far I can remember, were as follows.
The "Rich" were somewhat taller. But as soon as the resilience of youth started to wear out, they started having a sickly puffy look, started looking older for their ages, and started developing all of the "Diseases of the Rich".
The peasants were somewhat shorter. But kept looking wiry and muscular with seemingly unbound energy, and remained essentially healthy and able for the rest of their lives. My grandmother dies at 102 when she fell while working in her fields!
Based on the above experience from my growing up days, and schooled by the many books and article that I have read, I have concluded that the modern decline in the health of people is due to the adoption of society norms that are similar to that of the "Rich" of my growing up days. These norms make people prone to sickness. Examples of these norms, to put them in modern terms, are use of: (1) High amounts of sugar, disguised under many names and present in all foods prepared outside of your own kitchen; (2) Junk food, junk drinks, processed food, etc.; (3) Lifestyle drugs. These are drugs to treat non-paiful and non-life threatening conditions such as baldness, impotence, menopause, birth control, wrinkles, acne, etc. There is a pill for everything! ; (4) Recreational drugs. These are addictive drugs such as, Alcohol, Cocaine, Morphine, Ayahuasca, Marijuana, Fentanyl, Opioids, Vaping, etc.; (5) Tattoos; (6) Cosmetics; And (7) Daily use of Prescription drugs.
I strongly believe that these norms, especially daily use of prescription drugs and high consumption of sugar, are the root-cause of our Modern Diseases. I strongly believe, based on my own experience (I still have all of my own teeth, and I still have the same weight as when I was eighteen!), that the danger of sugar consumption and daily use of prescription drugs is very real. Nowadays the lifestyle that adopts these norms is referred as the "Western Lifestyle". And there are many experts that also maintain that our Modern Diseases have reached epidemic proportions because of our Western Lifestyle.
Does Big Pharma support promotion of the Western Lifestyle? One thing is clear: there is no evidence that it opposes it. We are all bombarded by adds for new drugs. But I have never seen an equally well organized advertising campaign aimed at convincing people to avoid the Western Lifestyle to stay healthy and thus avoid the many side effects of the prescription drugs.
In fact, Big Pharma does not speak out against the Western Lifestyle at all, and it is acting instead as if to effectively say: " Go ahead! Enjoy anything that you like to do or eat and, when you don't feel well, come to us and we will give you a few pills!". And, as these pills are designed to treat symptoms rather than root causes, the diseases are never cured and the side effects from the continued use of these pills end up causing even more diseases ... and needing even more pills.
And nowadays we have got to a place where everybody is taking many pills every day to the extent that drug stores have started to offer the service of organize the pills for you in a neat package so that you do not forget to take the right pill at the right time! Furthermore, Big Pharma does not fund any research into how to cure root causes of diseases. The only research funded is for patentable drugs to treat disease symptoms. In summary, the treating of symptoms does not ever cure the patient of diseases but cause additional other diseases and keeps requiring more prescription medications; while the curing of root causes restores the patients to good health and not requiring any ongoing prescription medications. Remember the "Watermain Analogy" presented above!
The above considerations and my own experience schooled by the many related books that I have read, support the conclusion that the Organized Medicine business, virtually owned by Big Pharma, has adopted a "business model " consisting of the following approach: (i) Do not act to oppose the Western Lifestyle; (ii) Indirectly support industries that profit from the Western Lifestyle in their effort to increase market share; (iii) Support research for patentable drugs that treat disease symptoms, and for research for better ways to produce and dispense these drugs; (iv) Do not support research that seeks cures for root causes of diseases; (v) Invest heavily to create a "think box" that convince people that prescription drugs are the ultimate remedy for their ailments, and make it "politically incorrect" to even mildly suggesting that Organized Medicine is not doing their absolute best to cure diseases; (vi) Do not fund research that seeks to uncover and cure root causes of diseases; (vii) And, if some idealist bright scientist discovers a cure for a disease, quickly act to discredit her/him, destroy her/his reputation, declare her/him a quack, and paper over and ignore her/his discovery.
This business model is proving to be very successful in ensuring a steady supply of sick people to fuel the huge Organized Medicine business complex. Nowadays, many young children and mostly everybody over the age of about thirty is being diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome. This is a condition that makes the body very fertile ground for serious diseases. How do I know? One of my sources is the the many medical books and articles in the literature that are sounding the alarm regarding Metabolic Syndrome. Another source of information is available to anybody. Just look around and you will see that as soon as people get to the age when the resilience of youth starts wearing down, people start looking unhealthy: Pot bellies; Receding hair lines or no hair; Obesity; And a general unhealthy pudgy look. And so it should not surprise anybody that nowadays diseases such as Cancer, Dementia, Heart Disease, Hypertension, Diabetes, and Obesity (just to name a few) have reached pandemic proportion in all western countries as well as countries that have adopted the Western Lifestyles.
This large amount of sickness and the devastating impact of these sicknesses has everybody clamouring for more powerful new drugs ... because everybody is brainwashed to think that good health can be achieved only with new and more powerful drugs. This justifies Organized Medicine to invest heavily in research to discover new patentable drugs. And the key word is "patentable" because only these type of drugs make truly obscenely large profits. And with all this money, Organized Medicine spreads its influence in all areas of our society including our government institution put in place to protect our health.
The entire scientific community (not influenced by Organized Medicine and other confluent interests such as Big Sugar ( e.g. 37,38,40,51)), agree that the solution to this epidemic of diseases is to say no to Western Lifestyles and re-adopt the lifestyles prevalent among the more primitive communities which relied on wholesome natural food directly from the land ... not from factories! An example of these communities is the peasant community that I grew up within in the 1940's; in those days only the "Rich" suffered from our "Western Diseases"; We called them the diseases of the rich. Unfortunately nowadays the food from the land is not as nutritious as it used to be and contains environmental pollutants and more powerful and new toxins due to genetic modifications. But, fortunately, today we have Vitamins and we can use them to supplement nutrition and neutralize to some extent the new pollutants and new toxins due to genetic manipulations. But this approach is not "patentable" and therefore makes no money for Organized Medicine and other confluent interests. And therefore Organized Medicine and the other confluent interests, such as Big Sugar, are not interested in healthy eating. In fact they consider it a threat to their continued success, and train their professionals and spread misinformation to discredit the use of good nutrition and demonize the use of Vitamins. So, based strictly on my own experience, I can say that exercise and good food supplemented with plenty of vitamins, especially vitamin C, works amazingly well!!! And I would be remiss if I were not to say that Linus Pauling was correct in all that he said in his interviews, articles, and books (1,2,3,30). And those that have dared calling him a quack are clearly not qualified not even to shine his shoes!
